Our world has changed so much when it comes to things for our kids to do. No longer is getting outside and playing the norm. There are so many cool toys to choose from, a variety of games and gaming systems and now subscriptions for clothing, play, cooking, learning, science experiments and so much more. So, how do you know what is worth the money and beneficial to you children?

When the pandemic started and school was cancelled, I was online researching everything I could find to keep my son occupied while I worked and not have him sit on the couch and watch television all day. I kept seeing subscription boxes on Facebook and finally broke down and purchased one. I decided to try Little Passports. Their kits focus on STEM(Science, technology, engineering and mathematics), geography and travel and learning toys. I was able to choose the package that fit his age for learning. They have packages for kids ages 3-10. Each kit comes with 1-3 projects, stickers, a book for learning and a badge for completing that month’s kit. I signed up for six months , and watched my child’s eyes light up, each time one came in the mail. Children love to receive things in the mail.

Below is a list some of the Little Passports kits we received and activities we did:

• Weddell Seal – There are so many animals to learn about. This kit was great as my son learned all about seals and it was age appropriate, so he did not lose interest. We also received a board game that month.

• Weather – This month was all about different types of weather patterns and natural disasters(snow, rain, fog, volcanos, earthquakes). The projects in this kit were so much fun. We made an erupting volcano, snow and a project that simulated an earthquake

• Underwater Exploration –This kit taught about animals under the sea as well as exploration. The project here was to build a submarine

• Music – This kit taught all about musical instruments and how they worked. In this kit, we built a small guitar

This subscription was well worth it. It kept my child engaged, learning and away from the screen. The hands on experiments and projects were so much fun. The components of each package are very high quality. The projects can be done over and over. The only downfall, is that if you have a young child like I do, it does take help from the parents.

The second subscription box I invested in was called Little Sous Kitchen Academy. This was a monthly cooking subscription box. Each themed box comes with a main cooking lesson, recipes, science and art projects, a jumbo coloring poster, collectible vinyl stickers and a kid-safe kitchen tool.
