How to Keep Your Relationship Fresh, Exciting and Loving
Posted by Lindsay on Mar 19, 2021 in Health Blog | Comments Off on How to Keep Your Relationship Fresh, Exciting and LovingWe all know that the first six months to a year is the honeymoon phase of a relationship. This is when you prioritize going out on dates, calling each other throughout the day and when you are both on your best behavior. We also know that as we get further along in a relationship we get more comfortable, and stop prioritizing all of the fun stuff and each other. This is especially true after marriage and kids.
Here are some easy and doable ideas to help make each other a priority again:
-
After the kids are asleep, spend an hour together watching a new TV series together
-
Have an uninterrupted conversation
-
Show up with flowers or small gifts
-
Hide a silly and romantic card in a funny place to let your partner know you care about them
-
Make one night per week a date night, even if it’s something special you do at home
-
Order a subscription date box- They have murder mystery, cooking and a few other different types of dating activity subscriptions that can be done at home
-
Talk a walk or workout together
-
Hold hands
-
Cuddle on the couch
-
Take a day trip
-
Do a staycation if your budget and time allows
-
Show appreciation and gratitude how?
-
Touch, hug and feel connected. Hugs don’t take lots of time!
-
Try something new together
-
Put on some music and dance in the living room
-
Cook a fun meal together, open a bottle of wine, put on some great music and enjoy!
-
If you have kids, ask grandma and grandpa to invite them for a sleepover. (a win-win for all)
Life is short and being happy is so important. If you are lucky enough to be married or in a relationship, do what you can to keep it fresh, loving and romantic. Don’t lose yourself so much in work or parenting that your relationship is no longer a main priority.
