Diets – I have tried so many, and here are my reviews

Like so many people, I have struggled with my weight. I feel like I have been on a diet since I was in high school. I am not going to tell you my age, but that was a long time ago. How many of you are struggling with the Quarantine 15?

In my lifetime, I have been on Jenny Craig, Atkins, Weight Watchers, South Beach, Nutrisystem, MyFitnessPal, Optavia, Slim Fast, Keto and 2B Mindset and so much more. Here are my thoughts on a few of them:

2B mindset – This is such a healthy diet and does not make you eliminate the things you do not want. It is very sustainable, but you have to like vegetables as there are a lot of them

Optavia – If you want to lose weight quickly this is a great diet. I do not feel like this is sustainable and I am not crazy about the health benefits. The food they have is made of really nutritious ingredients, but I was not a fan of the food or depleting the body of calories in order to get into ketosis and lose weight rapidly

Jenny Craig – They have the best tasting proportioned food. I lost weight, but unfortunately, I have quit three times because of the price. It costs about $150 per week and you have to buy additional food

Nutrisystem– This has always worked for me. It is not terribly expensive, but the food, especially the dinners are not very good, so it was hard to stay motivated

Weight Watchers – They have had a lot of different plans over the years. The most recent is the easiest, as you are not having to track points for everything you put in your mouth, since they give you a ton of free foods.

My Fitness Pal – The idea of this is the best, you have a set amount of calories for the day and you track them all, as well as your exercise. You can eat what you want as long as you track it. My downfall on this one has always been having to track everything

Atkins – This seems to work well for everyone when they are doing it, including myself. However, the second you even stare at a carb you gain weight back. In the long run this is not sustainable

I have recently received my health and nutrition coaching certification and learned healthy, nutritious ways to eat. I cook my own food instead of eating proportioned diet food, I focus on real food with a small list of ingredients, lots of fruit and veggies, and smaller meals more often.

So, if you are planning to diet, choose the one that works best and the one you can sustain. Every person and diet is different . And remember, there’s no quick fix. But with discipline and perseverance, you can be successful.
